2018
- Chris Hart, our PhD Candidate, has received the 2018 HKL award in multiple sclerosis ($3000).
- Our lab (Arsalan Alizadeh) also won the 2017 HKL award. Well done!
- Graham McLeod, our BSc Med student was recognized by 4 awards during BSc Med award ceremony at the 2018 Joe Doupe Lectureship event. He was among top three BSc Med students to speak during the event and was selected to represent Manitoba in the National Student Forum in Texas in the spring of 2019.-
- Chris Hart, our PhD Student, Received Gold Prize in the CIHR Canadian Student Health Research Forum in June 2018. He also received Gairdner Student Award presented to the top five students to attend the 2018 Gairdner Symposium and Gala in Toronto.
- Arsalan Alizadeh, our PhD Candidate, delivered the 2018 Drewry Memorial Lecture in June 2018. This is the highest award for Excellence of Research in the Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba.
- Narjes Shahsavani, our PhD Student, received a 2-year Manitoba Graduate Scholarship.Well done!- Soheila Karimi has received a Merit Award from the University of Manitoba for her contributions to Research/Scholarly Activities, Teaching and Service.
- Soheila Karimi has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Neuroscience

-We are delighted to receive a 5 year CIHR Project Grant in the Fall 2017 competition ($1,059,525). This project will investigate novel combinatorial approaches for optimizing current neural stem cell therapies for spinal cord injury.
- We have published two new articles in the Journal of Neuroinflammation (Alizadeh et al. and Dyck et al.) that demonstrates a novel immunomodulatory role for Neuregulin-1 and CSPGs signaling in spinal cord injury.
